Memorial Hospital
Trauma & Surgical Patient Care

Client Profile

As one of the top 100 cardiac hospitals in the nation, Memorial Hospital is a partnered system with University of Colorado Health bringing emergency, pediatric, trauma, cardiac, neuroscience, oncology, and many other specialized health services to the City of Colorado Springs.

Project Description

This remodel began with an evidence based design assessment that discerned which design upgrades would meet health system delivery objectives as well as identify the positive and negative aspects of the physical environment for operational, functional, and emotional performance. With the overall approach aimed at overhauling the current institutional image, the remodel introduced wood grain vinyl flooring, bright colors, and custom millwork. Varying aesthetic upgrades transformed the floor into a more comforting, residential environment. With the goal to stay in budget, nurse’s stations, patient’s rooms, corridors, consultation rooms, medication and storage rooms, and general offices were modernized to match the rest of the hospital but also retain a unique identity. With softened curves and friendly lighting, the new design prioritized patient and staff comfort.
